Course foci:

Developing student thinking skills:

  • Consider how teacher planning and thinking about the purpose of pupil learning can lead to increased pupil thinking about their work and hence the progress they make in lessons;

  • Provide practical strategies which stimulate pupil thinking and engagement in their learning and which can be adapted for use in different subjects.


Questioning to promote talk for thinking and learning:

  • Understand the importance of questioning and dialogue in promoting effective learning;
  • Explore and deepen delegates’ understanding of effective questioning practice in the classroom;
  • Consider a range of strategies to develop more effective questioning and dialogue for learning in lessons.
